The Memorial Museum of 9/11

Tribute in Light on September 11th, 2015.

September 11th marks the 14th anniversary of the tragic attack on the World Trade Center.

It is emotionally overwhelming, particularly for New Yorkers who were in the city on that devastating day and for the billions around the globe watching the horrors unfolding on television.

To remember this day, I would like to take you on a tour of the National September 11 Memorial Museum that was opened in May last year.

When you pass the security check point, you will see two granite basins of cascading water that fill the twin tower footprints from the street-level plaza.

.

After walking down the long stairway, it continues down a long processional ramp.

As you walk forward, you will see overlap images of the world map which is made up with words - the transcription of different perspective and experiences of 9/11 themselves.

A portion of the slurry wall was deliberately left exposed in the Foundation Hall of the museum.
On the right is the "Last Column" - the final steel beam ceremonially removed from Ground Zero,
marking the formal end of a nine-month recovery effort.

This stainless steel pedestal was recovered from the site.

This is the “impact steel” — a portion of the north tower facade
that was twisted by the direct hit from American Airlines Flight 11.

A 20-foot segment of the north tower’s radio and tv antenna was salvaged.
Below photo shows where exactly this was on the building.

As you enter the room, you will see other remnants of the tragedy.

From debris of the plane wreck to belongings of the innocent victims.
